Rocker Style-Never Grow Up

Uncategorized

I love me some rock music, but when you get to be 34, it makes it a little harder to feel like it’s appropriate. But the fashion stylist side of me is saying, “you can make it appropriate, don’t let your age dictate your personal style!” So here’s my spin on an age-appropriate rocker look!

I paired one of my favorite band tees with a pair of black denim from Express and a black blazer from H&M.  To add a little more edge I knotted the tee (throwback from my Hot Topic days) and wore studded shoes and cross body bag.

I loved these Native American inspired earrings to add more metal in my accessories. I also liked the little bit of color. These earrings were a Christmas present from an adorable boutique in Lewisburg, WV called Wolf Creek Gallery.

What style do you think you’re too old for but would like to still incorporate in your wardrobe?

A Nautical Twist

fashion

The past three days have been unseasonably warm.  It inspired me to do a spring fashion post.  Most of you probably know what I mean when I say, “nautical,” but if you don’t it’s a type of fashion that is inspired by being on the water.  For instance, since I live by a river this is a nautical look you might see me wear on a boat (without the heels of course).

img_7349 I love different hues of a deep blue.  This color is key when it comes to styling a nautical themed look.  Stripes, polka dots and of course anchors all work wonderfully to pull a nautical look together. Different shades of red work really well too.

This striped scarf is a silk, light-weight piece to add more pattern to the look.  **Warning**  This does not provide warmth, trust me! (lol)  I loved the way it was blowing in the wind to show the bold stripes and beautiful hue.

I’m not afraid to add patterns on top of patterns, so I paired these beautiful earrings from Permanent Baggage, which I found at Wit & Whimzy.  You’ve probably seen me wear the necklaces below that are also from Wit & Whimzy. I love representing the “740” stamped necklace for so many obvious reasons. I lived in Columbus, Ohio for 5 years so I was excited to learn that we had access to Red Giraffe Designs here locally!

Here you can see my oh so famous leopard accent 🙂  I also love any reason to sport my lynne&lucille bullet necklace from my husband.  I may love fashion but I know how to hang with the boys too when it comes to shooting 😉  Feel free to share your favorite nautical look with me 🙂

If you haven’t noticed already, I decided to include the new fringe denim trend into this look for fun.  I had two pair of white denim and I decided to cut them at the bottom myself to see how I liked them.  Well, I LOVE them!  I’m not surprised I do since I love any type of fringe or tassel detail.  Get brave and try a new style yourself.  Rip up some old denim and get crazy! ❤

Family Date Night Attire

fashion

Today my little family and I  had a date night and went to go see the Lego Batman movie (Batman is my family’s favorite comic book character <3). So what do you wear on a family date night?

img_7053

It was quite windy today so I decided to wear a hat to block the wind, a graphic tank layered with a denim shirt and some fun accessories.

I wore my necklace and earrings from Wit & Whimzy. I am obsessed with these leather fringe earrings from Lynne and Lucille as well as their necklace. I paired this necklace because it didn’t take away from anything.

Since I was wearing a graphic tee I didn’t want to layer a heavy necklace with a dramatic earring; it was the perfect set. I also liked that the earrings tied in the black denim.

These slip ons are a definite favorite of mine. With the hair-on-hide look in leopard print and the rich colors, this makes and effortless look. AND they are comfortable! I also wore my handy Fossil crossbody bag because it was the perfect neutral.

Oh, and by the way…you’re never too old to wear a graphic tee if you style it with the right pieces. Let’s face it, when you’re a mom there are times you crave comfy attire and this look works out perfectly.

Try not to let the stress of the world keep you from feeling confident in your clothing. Even on those days you throw dry shampoo in your hair, you can still look your best without anyone knowing you skipped washing your hair 😉 lol.
