This weekend was jam-packed full of fashion fun. I was able to take a quick photo op of some wonderful fashion pieces, work with Hot Tomato on a photo shoot for a talented seamstress, named Loni Jakubowski of Havin’ Sew Much Fun. I got to style Loni with her own creations which was such a treat. Then, I got to do a shoot for Clutch MOV around modern fashion with a vintage twist at The Betsy Mills Club. I can’t wait to see the finished product from both shoots! It’s always such a wonderful time with the Hot Tomato team. Let’s just say I’m lucky and so very blessed to have the husband that I do to watch our little, Harper Simone so I can make time for my passions.

On Saturday, before my little family and I had to finish up moving into our new place, I stopped in Twisted Sisters Boutique.  I have been great friends with the owners for about 3 years now.   I always enjoy laughing with them and it’s not out of the ordinary for me to spend hours in their store gabbing and being silly.  I stopped in to pick up some Do Terra essential oils that they introduced me to. I also knew they had a nice, upscale trunk show going on for Doncaster. I had never heard of this brand but I checked them out online beforehand. I was pleased with some of the pieces I found online and knew I had to touch and feel these pieces for myself. The above picture was one of my favorite pieces. It was stunning! The picture doesn’t do it justice. What a lovely statement piece to own in your closet!

This second jacket was adorable. Unfortunately, this jacket was not available in my size but I insisted on still trying it on and sharing this garden scene floral print. The luscious colors were fabulous. I also love when a jacket has a waist tie.

Now this piece I fell in love with! The colors in this print were to die for, the fit was perfect and the fabric against my skin was heavenly.  If you like the pieces that you see, stop in Twisted Sisters Boutique on Front Street in downtown Marietta to learn how you can own Doncaster pieces.

DIY Denim Workshop

Last weekend I hosted my first DIY Denim Workshop at the Hot Tomato Studio. We went over different techniques and trimming ideas for our older denim we wanted to transform. I loved seeing everyone’s excitement and designs they came up with. Take a look at the end products:

Kristen went patriotic with the inside cuffs of her denim.

Abbie added some pyramids and abstract paint designs with mini hearts ❤

Jesse is heading to Aruba soon and wanted to add some color and excitement to her denim.  How cute are these pom pom’s?

And don’t forget about the Aruba patch 😉

Franci took the time to distress some of her old denim for her daughter.IMG_8132

And then a pair for herself 🙂

Linda assisted with her sewing skills and all of her fun accessories to add to the denim; a potato and coasters to create a painted stamped look and more patches!

I added some ruffles to an old pair of denim shorts.  Now, maybe I will wear them because it helped add length to the shorts! lol.

All fun ideas and I loved the different creative sides these women let out.  Some just went to town and then others spent time thinking about how they envisioned their denim turning out.  All beautiful ways to celebrate your individuality.  The best part of this was listening to 90’s music and laughing with one another. It’s so therapeutic to hang out with a group of women crafting it up!  Thanks again to all of you that came to the workshop!

Top Shop and Drop It

I love when spring fashion arrives in stores. All of the bright colors and sense of ahh, warm weather ahead. Green is one of my favorite colors. It brings a sense of cheer to my soul. It reminds me of the lovely smell of fresh cut grass and the leaves on the trees.

I obtained this vibrant floral top from Target. The funny thing is, here I just shared how much I love the color green, yet don’t own a lot of it in my closet.

What I loved most about this top is the surprising versatility. Here I am wearing it with a favorite pair of denim I recently purchased on a trip to Chicago. I like to tuck the front of my flowy tops into my pants to give it a little more interest.

What I loved most about this denim and what made it so special is that it was:

1. A simple way of showing skin to feel a little sexy while the details in the cuff were a little more raw. I loved the moto style of them as well.

2. I found them at Top Shop and I had never been inside this store. Needless to say I was very excited because I have always drooled over their clothing online. I don’t purchase a lot of clothing online because I want to try things on so this was a major treat for me.

The second look I produced with this top was pairing it with one of my favorite leather skirts from Macy’s. When I lived in Columbus I frequented Macy’s sale rack on my lunch breaks and this was one of my finds! I love that this look creates a little more drama.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably notice that I love any type of leather type look. The psychology behind that, in my mind, is that I am not a demanding or overly serious person by nature. Wearing styles like this is my way of showing that I CAN have a more serious and domineering side when I want to. Yet, another thing I love about fashion. You can portray a certain personality just through the clothes you wear.

What trend or style makes you feel powerful? As always, I’d love to hear from you 🙂
