With these high temperatures this summer, it’s time to reveal my hottest accessory yet! It comes in all shapes and sizes and is the perfect thing to carry around for at least 9 months out of the year!

I aquired this accessory about 9 weeks and 3 days ago. You see I’ve had one before but it outgrew me so I decided to get another one. I mean, hello? That first accessory has been the best thing I’ve owned!

If you haven’t figured it out by now (which I’m sure you have 😂) I am now going to be sporting a baby bump! Though it might be small right now it shall continue to grow ❤️.  We’re beyond thrilled to invite this little bambino into our little family. I am still in shock that we finally made the decision to grow our family and it happened quite quickly.  We have been asked by many for the past 6 years if we were going to have another one. The truth is I thought we were finished. But then something happened. Our little Miss Harper was starting to ask for one and then come to find out her daddy wanted another one too. I was a little more reluctant because I’m 35 now which I know can “put me at risk” and I had all these questions in my head, “what if it changes the dynamic of our family drastically and makes things really hard on us”, “what if Harper feels left out” or “what if we can’t handle the extra responsibility and it puts a strain on our family”, and “I have all these life goals I’m trying to go for, what if they don’t happen?”

I came to realize that my worries were a mixture of fear and selfishness. First of all, all of these worries WILL happen at some point in our lives because life isn’t perfect. There will be moments in life that are rocky, I know because we’ve already experienced those. Is it hard? Absolutely! But it builds a stronger family foundation. The things we go through in life shape us into the humans we are called to be. I truly believe that. Sometimes we’re given tests where we feel we can’t see light at the end of the tunnel. But we have to put our big girl pants on and rise to the occasion. It helps when you have the right people and personalities to go through the trenches with you. If you don’t you’ll sink and let your fears smother you. I’m beyond lucky to have found that lifelong partner. We don’t give up on each other, just like you can’t give up on things when it gets tough. There are plenty of things out there worth fighting for.

So after all of that, I just want to thank you for reading and I can’t wait to share a new type of fashion. During my first pregnancy I tried my hardest to stay in non-maternity clothing for tops as long as possible. So for the next half of the year or so I’ll still be sharing fashion tips that will make sense for the everyday gal who is NOT expecting, but if you are expecting I’ll help you along this journey because maternity fashion can be the pits!

Your Faithfulness Dreamer,

Courtney

P.S. I absolutely adore this dress from Peyton & Peppy! I bought it a few months ago and couldn’t wait to wear it. Shortly after I found out I was expecting so I made sure to get a pic of me wearing it before I outgrow it 😂

Accessorizing: It Makes a Difference😘

Happy Hump Day readers! Today I decided to show you how accessories can make a difference with your look. I chose this fun jumpsuit to use as my muse. I visited six different local shops in Marietta, Ohio today to illustrate two things.

1. The obvious. Show you how I changed up my looks.

2. Show you what local resources you have in the MOV. In my opinion, there’s something special about shopping small businesses. If you never really do, this is me urging you to do so…like now. Seriously, go tomorrow!😁

This first look was created by accessories from Twisted Sisters Boutique. The necklace and purse are made from coconut shells! How cool is that?! I love the 70’s vibe it gives it. I feel like I should be on an episode of, Three’s Company (🎶Come on knock on our doooooor🎶)😂.

Next stop was Emleigh and Mama B’s. I decided to use a layering piece by utilizing this cute floral top. I love the dark contrast and drama it brings. This is definitely a “look at me” look. My fedora helped tie in the rest of the look along with her dark feather earrings and stacked bracelets also found inside her shop.

Now for Wit & Whimzy. I can always find fun and whimsical accessories here. I wanted to add more color so I chose multi-colored items. The tassel earrings and hot pink pendant necklace were the perfect accent colors to brighten up this look. I loved adding the wristlet for more color and my infamous mixing of patterns❤️

As I continued on my jaunt down Front Street I stopped in Sugar Maple Boutique and utilized this oversized denim jacket to show a more casual look that you could wear on a cooler summer evening. I added the fuschia bag and fun gray statement earrings with a gold medallion necklace. It’s fun to play with other colors. Gray, green, pink and gold…it’s fun!

We’re gettkng closer to the end of Front Street which led me to my next stop at Dad’s Primitive Workbench. Here I decided to create a cute beach look. Super casual and laid back. I paired a yellow “sunset chasin’” top to add a different color along with a beaded long necklace that helped bring out some of the blue  in the jumper. Simple and effortless 👌🏻

My last stop of the day was at Teri Ann’s.  She has this adorable layering piece that was perfect for the summer. The mesh look keeps it breathable AND it’s versatile! There are multiple ways to wear this piece so make sure to stop in and check it out. I saw it also came in turquoise and black! And how fun is this clutch? I’m going to call it the mermaid clutch because it reminds me of a mermaid tail with the different colors it has in it. I also paired the look with this delicate “X and O” necklace that has a small turquoise stone next to it. Simple and chic!

Well, thanks for “walking” along with me to search for some really great accessories for this jumpsuit. Remember, just because it’s a one- piece doesn’t mean you can’t wear something over top of it. Like I always say, have fun and think outside the box!

Now, tell me…which look was your favorite?!

Make-up Artist Etiquette

If you’re like me I am clueless when it comes to knowing what is and is not acceptable questions to ask a professional. Today I am going to cover the makeup profession. If you are looking to hire a make-up artist (MUA) here are a few things I have discovered by asking some of my favorite professionals in this field.

991CA469-57EB-4BC1-940E-300239FCC3DC

First things first, when you are searching for a MUA look up some of their work and see if you like their end product or ask around.  Once you’ve found one give them all the information you have about your event:

*How many clients should he/she expect to have on that day.

*Where the venue is and what time they need to be there. It’s very important to plan out the timing. Something you should ask them is the average time it takes to complete one person when working multiples.

*Do they require a contract and if so what all does that entail?

*What their fee is and what all that includes (such as a trial, travel or tip).

Now that you’ve figured out which MUA you are going with, now it’s time to set-up a date to do your trial. This is something that all MUA’s suggest doing. It makes sense, right? You wouldn’t get married without trying on your dress first because you might not like it. This gives the artist an idea of what you feel comfortable with and like or dislike.

This leads me to another controversial topic. What you shouldn’t expect or say during your consultation.

*Why are you so expensive? That’s insulting to ask anyone in their profession. Always remember you get what you pay for. MUA’s that are good have had lots of experience and training as well as great product that they have invested in for their clients. So keep that question out of your interaction with them.

*Can you use my makeup? This can vary between artists but usually they prefer using their product because they know how it applies. However, if you are sensitive to certain makeup or have allergies that should be discussed ahead of time so arrangements can be made. Or if there is a certain reason you’re wanting to use something of your own explain why.

*Remember that applying makeup to someone is an art and a work in progress so any questioning you have about what they’re doing should be saved for the end. In other words don’t judge the work until it is complete.

Lastly, here are a few things to remember and keep in mind:

1. When you’re searching through Pinterest or any other social media to find inspiration for your look, keep in mind some of these photos are edited and you might not get the same results. Especially if you have a different skin tone or facial structure. Especially eyes…everyone’s eye shapes vary.

2. If you don’t like something they’ve done make sure and communicate that to them, especially during the trial. They can’t read your mind and they want you to love your face so be honest with them.

3. Expect to pay for your trial and make sure to book plenty in advance for both the trial and your event (at least 4-6 weeks is a good time frame to book for your event).

4. Tipping is appreciated. Just like when you get your hair done by a professional and tip them, you should do the same for your MUA.

5. Expect it to take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for your makeup to be done.

I hope these tips helped when it comes to knowing what to expect or how to interact with your MUA. A huge thank you to the above MUA’s that allowed me to interview them and ask them questions. I personally learned a lot and have a new appreciation for what they do.

Pictured left to right are the MUA and their instagrams. You can also search their names on Facebook:

I trust these ladies and absolutely adore them. They are super professional and supply a beautiful finished look. Did I mention they’re also Hot Tomatos? If you aren’t familiar with Hot Tomato Studio then you need to message me and ask about what they do 🙂 In the meantime, check out this link.
