Dual-wear Holiday Attire

This holiday season is usually filled with office parties, family gatherings and celebrating the new year.  A lot of times my clients struggle finding a piece they can wear again.  I have some great news!  I teamed up with Dad’s Primitive Workbench for an unexpected treat.  A beautiful pleated jumper!  AND it comes in three different colors.  If you’ve been following me for a while you know that I love jumpers because they’re easy to layer in order to create a new look.

887E1B84-9FCD-431E-A9C9-3D13C0FDFEAFAC705270-F441-4CE0-956D-B0CA6777AA9597A3B59D-85B0-4019-BB56-C7B30ECCDA72

These three looks were all created using the black jumper.

Look 1: I’m ready for Thanksgiving by layering a fun distressed sweater over the jumper.

Look 2: Ready for date night (I’ll throw on my faux leather jacket to keep warm).

Look 3: New Year’s Eve, here I come (I’d recommend switching up the shoes with a nice stiletto pump in a fun accent color).  The toboggan and scarf will help keep me warm so I don’t have to worry about lugging around a big winter coat too.

DB21BC51-5574-4602-859F-6842453BBDF4

This next jumper is a fun color that falls within the pastel category.  Don’t be afraid to wear lighter colors this season.  During the winter months it’s easy to get stuck wearing neutrals but don’t forget to bring some color into your life.

C76BBBB3-5402-4682-94FD-DC4067F5EEAE111419A2-878E-452F-96EF-8F10C44E535E

Look 1: I love this kimono sweater layered over this jumper with a fun colorful shoe that blends nicely with the different colors in the layering piece.

Look 2: Throw on a sweater and add in some more color.  Switch up the shoes with a winter suede and stick to the pastel aesthetic.

1B3841F7-613E-4F8A-A80E-EB4C46D4D298

This last color is one of my faves!  It’s called clay but it reminds me of rose gold.  This color can be fun to work with because you could add in some teal or bring in some earth tones.  Maybe even try a monochromatic theme with something like a blush tone.

F323F745-F63F-4AF2-8316-5539D53BF3231517AA98-DC50-4285-B323-C8DE092F83E0

Look 1: I am swooning over this look.  I love the faux fur scarf because it brings dramatics to the outfit and helps brighten my skin tone.

Look 2: This look is a little funky but can be fun for the right person.  I loved teal with the clay color and decided to tie knots on the side of the pants to provide a different style and funk it up a little.  Next time I would layer the heck out of this top with chunky necklaces to give it more of a winter boho style.

EBB4E3D5-1542-43E2-B6AC-E458F65BDEBC

This next top is a fun take on a winter cold-shoulder.  The velvet texture helps provide warmth and has a generous weight to it.  I love mixing different fabrics together such as this velvet with my faux leather skirt (not from Dad’s Primitive).

9580A1C1-AD5D-43D0-B1E8-03C74DCC7820CCA66BD1-DFCD-4F70-9FB9-5E6229535C737C580C95-E173-45CC-AF5F-B487987A17E1

I love adding a hint of color and print into an all black look.  The earrings blend nicely with my shoes and adds just enough color to soften the look.

As always, I love teaming up with Dad’s Primitive Workbench because he always has such a variety of pieces to work with and can dress so many different styles within his shop.  I also like to remind people to think of this little boutique because there are some hidden gems in there.

9F415E75-DD73-4669-859E-325CD06CB6D6

I love their holiday decor this time of year for Christmas decorations!  I’m a sucker for buffalo  plaid and they have plenty of it!  Also, how awesome is this, on Small Business Saturday the Buttered Maple Syrup candle you see pictured above is actually going to be on promotion for $17.99! That never happens and it smells delish.  Also, HUGE news…his clothing will be Buy Two Get One FREE!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Courtney

February is the month to spread love in a plethora of ways.  Here at Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0. I like to encourage my clients to practice more self-love during their style journey.  I also like to spread positivity as much as I can.  Some of you may not know that when you book a session with me, 30% of your fee goes to a non-profit organization that helps provide mental health services for those that lack the funds.  Since it’s Black History Month I would like to highlight The Loveland Foundation.  This is an organization that provides funding for black women and girls to receive therapy support nationwide. Even if you choose not to book a session this month, I encourage you to make a donation to this women-led organization.

I’d also like to spread some love to YOU this month. As you may have read before I’ve started a monthly style club called, Style Society and I want to give away the first month for FREE to the first person to sign-up for the membership this month. All you need to do is click here to enroll.  If you’re the fortunate one to do so first, I will reimburse you for the first month (don’t worry I get an alert when a client books a session so I’ll know who books first). Did you miss the email about how Style Society works?  Here’s what you need to know:

Last but not least, I wanted to share some love that two of my clients have shared with me and that’s their video testimonials about their experiences working with me.  I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without my amazing clients ❤  Click the two different links below to view their videos;

First and foremost thank you for checking your inbox for your daily dose of style guidance. There are two quick things I want to share with you, one being a free invite to an exclusive event and the other is sharing ways to shop sustainably and how to implement this practice into your own wardrobe.

If you’re on instagram I want to invite you to follow me @randomosity740 and watch my IGTV with a sustainable fashion company called Salvage Apparel (click here to watch). These ladies discuss tips and ways to shop more sustainably.  The easiest way for me to incorporate it into my life is shopping second-hand for pieces that are unique and add value to my wardrobe.  I also like shopping for quality staple pieces at small business boutiques that I will responsibly hold onto for an extended period of time. These are different techniques I share during my style sessions when it pertains to certain needs whether it be sustainability or budgets for my clients. This Sunday, 1/24/2021 I will be going LIVE again on Instagram with another sustainable small business company by the name of Blair Lane so mark your calendars and remember to tune in.

On the second-hand (see what I did there? Puns are fun), I’ve introduced Style Society to my services as you’ve probably read in a previous email. One of the many benefits of enrolling in Style Society are the happy hours that we have once per month with industry professionals. You’ll get to learn about living your best life through style.  If you’ve been curious what that looks like here comes your FREE exclusive invite to our first Style Society Happy Hour this Thursday, 1.21.21 at 6:00 p.m. EST.  If you can’t make it, the event will be recorded to view at your leisure per your request.  However, I encourage you to watch it live so that you can interact with Erin McSherry who is a stylist, Vogue contributor and New York Times Style Magazine contributing editor.  She will be interviewed by Pandora Amoratis, Style Director for Daily Mail.

If you ever have any questions, please email or text me (number is below).  Remember, I offer FREE virtual style consultations so book yours here.  Also, if you have a friend, colleague or family member that you think would be interested in this event or any of my services I would gladly accept the referral.  Any assistance in helping support my small business makes me smile.  Who doesn’t enjoy making someone smile? 🙂  Make your day a great one!

Hey you, welcome to 2021. We see and hear it all the time, New Year, New You!  Well if you’re anything like me I’m not looking to be a new me, just a continual work in progress to be the best version of myself. Progress, not perfection is our family motto.

How often do you say to yourself, “I’m too busy” or “life is just so crazy!?”  I know these phrases frequently spew from my mouth (probably too much). Many times I’m mindlessly scrolling my phone in between working, the kids, cooking, tending to the dog, sometimes exercising (lol) etc.  This pandemic has made it spiral out of control.  I mention this because if you find yourself online shopping/browsing for clothing often, or googly-eyed over someone’s style on social media or tv I can help free up some of that scrolling time with my newest service, Style Society.  Here are some popular topics I cover with my clients:

Style Society is a monthly style club with yours truly.  Imagine having me at your beck and call every month when you’re needing style guidance. You know those times you’re shopping and asking yourself which top to purchase or if you really need this item or goodness, what color??  I’m here for ya!

So tell me, are you ready to continue being a work in progress with me?  This service is $49.00/month and below is a link to book a FREE style consultation. Maybe you’re not sure if this would make sense for you.  Let’s chat and see!  I’m NEVER going to try and sell you something that I don’t think you need.  I’ve actually had consultations where I’ve informed the potential client that my services aren’t needed because I solve the problem in the moment.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Wow! It has been quite some time since my last blog post!  It’s been a crazy time during this pandemic, right?  Long story short, the family and I moved right smack dab in the middle of it back in March to the Columbus, OH area.  With that being said, THANK YOU for your patience with me.  I thought I would bring some color into your world today since it seems like most of the world is a little gray right now.

When you’re getting dressed do you struggle with creating an aesthetic? For example, you have this killer dress you’ve been dying to wear for a special occasion.  You put the dress on and instantly get nervous or lock-up when it comes to doing your make-up? I’m not a professional in make-up application but I do know how to disperse color and create a story with my look.  I suggest looking for inspiration on social media for the style of make-up you’re comfortable with.  Below is an image I found that excited me to look at the beautiful colors.  Here is my side-by-side comparison.

How do I style a look to go with such a bold color combo?  I start simple and pick a neutral color for the base of my outfit.  Next, I bring in a color that is being represented in my make-up, like this tangerine shoe. If you follow me on social media you can find my Virtual Style Therapy Session video that I post every Thursday (find it here) to see two other bonus tips.  Once you get comfortable with color you can keep experimenting by adding in print, pairing unlikely bold colors together or by switching things up with your make-up.

Closet Files, fashion

During the winter months it’s easy to get stuck wearing muted or neutral colors. This month’s partnering with Dad’s Primitive Workbench (DPW) is all about showing ways to bring color into your life during this season.
9742C353-A9AA-49C8-A3F3-D7DD8896E6E6

This first look is a flounce-sleeve dress that will look gorgeous in the springtime too. For now I layered underneath with a fitted black turtleneck. I wanted to jazz it up some more with black knee highs to tie in the two dark colors and then a printed snakeskin bootie to coordinate with the necklace (necklace, shoes, socks, and turtleneck not found in store).
99FF0370-F33E-4FB0-8911-97F7A5ECC587
I used a thin scarf (not in the store) as a belt to help cinch in the dress. I decided to add black in this look because being fair-skinned the blush color easily washes me out.  When I add black it helps the color stand out more.

51C035B3-04EC-4623-8C44-F2F987EA5D87

This sweater is just delightful! I love that it’s like a bright navy. I paired it with my black denim and burgundy rain booties. I liked the idea of incorporating two primary-type colors together.

C98C8CF6-3AD2-44C7-99FD-ADD5B7351355

DPW had my favorite print in earring form so I paired them with my coordinating belt. I wear this belt a lot in my posts to show how easy it is to wear the print with so many different things. These earrings were perfect because they were so lightweight but added so much value to the outfit.

17192516-1834-4E20-8527-602083C5B522
This army green jumper is to die for. It feels like suede and adds a lush texture to any look. I continued to pair it with my black turtleneck to show an easy way to showcase this special piece. I continued to wear it with the snakeskin booties to add more interest to the look.
3D250A20-21BB-4FFF-9968-0F8F0759C8E6
I loved adding this multi-colored striped button-down with this jumper. It really brightens it up and creates a fun, cheerful look!
DC570247-A505-4FE8-9644-19262F9C1772
You could also tie the shirt in a knot if you wanted to create a different vibe.

E495B304-2EFE-4069-9088-8A0973C52863

These faux leather earrings were the perfect pairing to bring in more variety (necklace not in DPW).
FB06375F-AAB5-419E-8189-8B9E9405073B

Another way you could incorporate two colors and style two pieces differently is by layering with the bright navy sweater from earlier. These two cool colors are an unexpected pair and I love them together.

884BDF26-5709-4A40-8925-0E9C39AD3155

I simply tucked the bottom of the sweater through the top of the neckline and pulled it through (just like when I was a kid playing with my clothing in new ways to look like I had on a bra. 😆 I had quite the imagination).

I felt the ivory earring was just the right touch to complete the look without taking away from the colors.

Are you not a Marietta, Ohio local shopper? That’s okay! DPW now offers their product online now🙌🏻 Don’t forget you can use shopping code: RANDOMOSITY740 for 10% off on top of the boutique promo buy one get one 1/2 off in stores.

Now quick! Go add some color into your life during these gloomy months.

Your Faithful Dreamer,

Courtney

Happy New Year!! It’s funny how I keep saying, “winter is right around the corner” yet I find myself wondering if it truly is close-by 😆. In all reality we know how the weather can quickly change from 60 degrees to 30 degrees in less than 24 hours.

My daughter loves playing outside and I hate being cold. I’ve given myself a goal to be outdoors more with her this winter. That means I need to gear up on keeping my booty warm! I’ve comprised a list of what I think is going to help me out in the accessory department. And mommies, I’ve made it easy for you to add these necessities by simply clicking the pic for a direct- link.

EARMUFFS

Anytime I try to wear the classic earmuffs with the adjustable band they never stay on my ears well. I’ve also tried the infinity headband style but honestly, I don’t like the way they look on me. I plan on trying these suckers out and they offer them in different colors.

SNOW GLOVES

I hate bulky snow gloves because it kills my snowball making game. 😂 I also love taking videos outside of my family sleigh-riding so these gloves will make it possible since they work on touch-screen phones!

FLEECE-LINED TIGHTS

I found this style recently and can’t wait to order them. Look at that fleece! I own a pair of tights similar to these but these look like game changers! They come in so many different colors too. I love being able to still wear dresses and skirts in the winter and these will make it more bearable to continue wearing them. Plus these are great to layer underneath snow gear!

FAUX-FUR SCARF

Some of you may not like the faux-fur look. However, these are some of the coziest and warmest accessories you can wear around your neck. The pull-through style keeps it intact and easier to tuck into your jacket.

FLEECE-LINED SOCKS

Basically, you can’t have enough fleece in the winter when it comes to keeping warm. I prefer knee-high socks because they work well with boots. These have great neutrals that will work well with everything.

So, here’s to being prepared for those frigid days that will soon be upon us. Remember, if you still need to load up on some of these products, click on the image to shop my affiliate link👍🏻

9DD50313-84F2-4CF4-A0C9-BA20A3FF9710Can you believe there are only 22 days until Christmas!? Crazy talk, right?  Good thing your personal stylist (eh hem, that’s me) is here to help you for all of your holiday styling needs.  Below you’ll find some of my suggestions to help you get through the holiday parties, dinners and family gatherings.  Don’t have time to go shopping?  I can help with that.  Keep reading until the end to find out how. As for now?  I’m sharing 15 days worth of fashion pieces to show how you can add each piece to create a classic, capsule holiday wardrobe (I have a surprise for you at the end too).

Day 1: The Polka Dot Top

Many people are afraid of a printed top especially if they are busty.  Truth be told as long as the fit is right for your figure you can absolutely do a print.  So why do I suggest a polka dot top?  It can easily turn into a festive look!  Add a red or black velvet pant and you now appear festive!

Day 2: The Black Pant

a96b64d94bc2edc0314d5c519f386cc6

Shop this Style Here

A nice slim leg ankle pant is perfect for this time of year.  A lot of my clients stress out about the idea of an ankle pant because of the snow and what type of shoe to wear with them.  Never fear, you can always wear a sheer black tight underneath to help provide an extra layer if you want to wear a pump or even an open-toe shoe.  Boots?  Simply wear a low-cut bootie and you can always cuff the bottom hem of the pant if need be.

Day 3: The Cable Knit Sweater

1f69d87d4c361568a75e7c122e38f6ba

 Shop this Style Here

A cable-knit sweater is a classic piece that will NEVER go out of style.  It looks great with jeans, skirts, dress pants, etc.  You need one!

Day 4: Denim Shirt

Shop this Style Here

A denim or chambray button-up is the perfect piece to layer underneath a sweater.  For instance, the cable knit sweater would work perfectly over top of this along with the black dress pants.  This is a staple piece for all year long.

A satin top brings an upscale vibe to a look.  For example, if you were to wear this cami with the black dress pants and a blinged out statement necklace, you would look stunning and all sorts of fancy! Something about different fabrics can really elevate a look.  Throw on a velvet blazer for an even more divine look.

Day 6: The Pleated Midi-skirt

3811e277da8e4a2b4b16923a02e72cb1

Something about a pleated skirt creates such an impact to your look. Wear a sweater or basic tee with this style skirt and you instantly look dressier and classy.

Day 7: Plaid

Shop this Style Here

Something plaid is a must during this season and what better way to incorporate than with a scarf?  Reds, greens or black buffalo plaid are all great choices for a classic holiday look.

Day 8: Something Velvet

2ed6bccb018e1bedf614f26dfad702f6

Shop this Style Here

Remember when I mentioned a velvet blazer earlier?  You don’t have to have an outer layer that is velvet but something with this texture is a necessity.  Whether it be a velvet headband, clutch or top it will help create a fabulous look.

Day 9: The Clutch

5aa7a00b62a278be0b01d82f604d9181

Shop this Style Here

Are you surprised that I am just now showing an animal print piece (lol)?  A clutch will be fairly important this time of year for parties.  Why not add in some print and go with something like this hair-on-hide cheetah print piece? It’s not too dressy to where you can’t carry it on a regular basis and it’s not so casual that you feel like it’s ruined your dressier look.

Day 10: The Jacket

8aad6de2f281ef7b6f36f42f0f67877e

Shop this Style Here

A dress coat is something  you need to add to your closet if you don’t already have one.  I know, I know it’s cold out and your puffer jacket and parka are calling your name but switch to something else.  This military-inspired coat is a striking piece to help take your style up a notch.

Day 11: The Printed Shoe

831293330d47071bf342fd2eb777ab4f

Shop this Style Here

Adding in a printed neutral shoe will take your style places you’ve never even imagined! Pair these with your black pants or pleated skirt with your new cable-knit sweater along with these sexy pumps. Then top it off with your military coat. Now you’ve got quite the look going for ya!

Day 12: The Hat

2724dac3ead226f6b6caf3aa7b3164aa

Shop this Style Here

Now is the time ladies.  Add a winter fedora into your wardrobe so that you can look dressed to the nines head-to-toe. The more layers, the more stylish you look and it helps keep you warm during these cold months.

Day 13: The Go-to Dress

73bd2a9cd47ada5b59e0c04e8c7b6b66

Shop this Style Here

Finding a go-to dress like this one is going to be very helpful.  It doesn’t have to be black, maybe it’s winter white or gray.  Make sure you have a dress that is easy for you to dress-up and accessorize different ways so that you can get multi-use this season.

Day 14: The Belt

f09d6145553e85ae8d536b97a4f97155

Shop this Style Here

Make sure and add a belt to your accessories collection.  This is an easy way to add a tailored look to your outfit. This color provides warmth and is a good neutral for just about any color it’s paired with.  Add it to that look I mentioned earlier; the black pants with the cable-knit sweater and denim shirt.  Perfect for family gatherings.

Day 15: The Statement Piece

88c39b67fc771bb2a69fcf34cc26e821

Shop this Style Here

Whether you’re an earring chick or necklace gal make sure and add a statement piece with your jewelry.  It’s going to make any outfit more festive.  Stick to a neutral color or maybe even a cluster of pearls.  Either way, make an impact with your jewelry and you’ll be all set!
