The Beautiful Kelsey❤️

Sometimes we buy these awesome fashion finds because we love them in the store, but then we find ourselves perplexed on what to pair it with.

If you read my blog post about my dress design, you might remember me mentioning, Kelsey Preston. She was the photographer behind the photos and I had so much fun getting to know her. I also spent some time in her closet sharing some tips and tricks. So cheers to a series of posts about Kelsey 😁

The look I’m discussing today was around what layering piece to put under this beautiful embroidered top that she had in her closet. She wasn’t sure what color to layer it with. I chose black because it helped accentuate the beautiful color and details in the top.  If we went with nude or something lighter it actually took away from the top.

Some might shy away from layering a heavy necklace with such a detailed top but I noticed that Kelsey had the perfect necklace hanging with her accessories. It added some fun but didn’t take away from the top. Perfectly complimentary😁

As you can see there was snow on the ground during this shoot and it was absolutely boot weather at the time. So we paired a cognac colored boot to add warmth and a mid-wash denim. A few months later since this phot was taken and it’s supposed to snow again this weekend 🤦🏼‍♀️. Either way this look can work when spring finally arrives simply by switching out the shoes to a heel or flat.

Stay tuned for some more looks I helped Kelsey put together.

Pin-Stripes? Don’t Mind If I Do!

When I think of springtime the fashion color palette in my mind always floats towards pastels.  Now, with my fair-skin and blonde hair, I tend to get a little squeamish because I can easily look washed-out in a lot of pastels.  BUT, with that being said I am not afraid to push myself to make it work for me.  You can do so by adding brighter accessories.

I recently did an article for Clutch MOV on the collaboration of modern and vintage styles.  I loved this article because it really married the two styles together and made vintage relevant with modern fashion.  The dress you see in this post was featured in this article and I must say, I AM IN LOVE!  The light fabric and off-the-shoulder look made it so easy to wear this dress and so comfortable.

I loved pairing a bold red shoe with the dress; nothing wrong with going a little patriotic now and again 😉  I also like to mix and match my accessories.  I loved utilizing a cognac colored handbag.  This neutral color honestly works so well with ANY and EVERY color!  I love it with black, yellow, red, brown, green, etc.  I haven’t seen it with a color that I don’t like.

When it came to accessorizing this dress, I kept it simple.  I selected a bold shoe which was enough of a statement for me when it came to introducing a color.  How cute are those tassels?!

These pieces are found locally at some of my dearest friends’s shop, Twisted Sisters Boutique in downtown Marietta, Ohio. If you are located in the Mid-Ohio Valley make sure and stop by and say, “GIVE ME THESE PIECES” lol!
