Sometimes being a business owner and mom wrapped into one can be draining. We want to be present for our families, run a successful business and make time for ourselves too. Well, I know I can speak for myself and probably these two rad moms when I say the best part of being an entrepreneur is the connections you can make. When I say “connections” I’m not referring to it in a professional manner. I mean the connection you can make with personalities.
Abigail Gedon of PWDR Beaute’ and I work together occasionally and we both shop at EmLeigh’s & Mama B’ in Marietta, Ohio. We’ve both enjoyed interacting with shop owner, Emma Conley. She’s always so upbeat and positive and is a new mom to a sweet little babe just like Abigail and myself. Abigail and I had been discussing doing a creative project together and felt Emma would be the perfect person to collaborate with. It was the perfect set-up; Abigail and I get to use our creative crafts and Emma gets a little pampering and break from the stresses of her retail business.
We made it official and asked Emma to be our model for a creative shoot to showcase our work and her product. I think it’s safe to say we enjoyed our day together and I loved getting to work on a project like this with two peeps I adore. I showed Abigail what my vision was for the clothing and told her to just use what she wanted and felt would coordinate well with the looks. I later asked her how she prepares for a session with someone. “When I do make-up I don’t necessarily base it off season or trends. I try to emphasize their own natural beauty. When clients like Emma, who wear barely-there make-up sit down I try to play to their energy and eye color and an easy-to-tailor look that can be toned up or down based upon the time of day.”
The make-up turned out just perfect for the looks you’ll see below. One of my favorite things about Emma’s shop is that I can count on finding something edgy to work with at an affordable price point. I hope you enjoy these looks I put together and they inspire you.
You know I can’t resist mixing patterns in any way that I can. I’m loving the snakeskin print clutch with the floral. It works well with her shoes and helps tie it all in together. I also adore how you can wear this dress off-the-shoulder if you prefer.
I paired these shoes with this look because of the red accents and to coordinate with the red in the sweatshirt.
Well if you didn’t guess it already the “skirt” on the previous image is actually a dress! Ta-da (lol). I loved this chunky silver necklace because it really makes a statement for both looks. Emma is always wearing this gold necklace when I see her and I wanted to show that it’s okay to wear silver and gold together especially when you want to pair it with something that you treasure.
A modern grunge look anyone? Yes, please! I will forever be a grunge chick. I loved adding color and textures with this one. The corduroy pants were a beautiful shade of green and it works so well with the other neutral tones. The mini-print adds some interest and helps tie in the beanie. I finished off the look with these colorful statement earrings to show a way to add some glam to a grunge style. It also adds some funk to it which I adore. And how fun is this denim jacket? I love that you can see the print of the shirt through the backside of the jacket.
All of these looks can be shopped at EmLeigh’s & Mama B’s (aside from the shoes and Emma’s gold necklace). You can also find her on instagram @emleighsandmamabs.
