If you’ve been following me lately you may have noticed a few features of vintage jewelry from Havana’s Heydey. I discovered this vintage shop through Instagram so make sure and check her out @havanasheydey. She’s from the Pittsburgh area and has an inspiring story. The classic hoops I am wearing in this photo are from her shop.
I love a classic black and white look. Nothing says classic more than that. So here I am wearing this beautiful textural bordered skirt from Talbots with my silly little gal, Harper wearing a fun dress from H&M. I wore this first look during our weekend trip to Geneva-on-the-Lake with some of our dearest friends. It was really hot so I figured why not pair it with a homemade crop-top. I used one of my tee shirts and shortened it by cutting it to the length I preferred and created a hem to make it a crop. Super simple.
Today I wore my skirt with a miniature heart printed button-down top. This length of skirt is not typical for me. I usually like my skirts slightly above the knee but I adore the length of this skirt. Very classic and elegant. It just goes to show, don’t disregard something at first sight because you might love it on.
Also, in the first image you can see my gold necklace, which if you couldn’t tell is the map of the world laid flat ❤️ This was a surprise gift from one of my sisters, Beth. She saw a board of mine on Pinterest labeled, “I Want This” and surprised me with the necklace in the mail. What a sweet sister 😘.
So tell me, what style are you looking forward to trying this upcoming summer?
Last week I shared some bargain finds. I promised I’d share two more fun pieces during my shopping trip. So here you go! For this look I found a red ruffle top at TJ Maxx for $6.00 and these mules for $6.00 at Gabriel Brothers. I’ve receive the most compliments on these shoes when I wear them and they can be worn with so much! The first image I layered with a denim jacket and a pair of gray jeggings from Talbots (my absolute favorite fit of denim).
This top can also be worn simply by taking the denim jacket away. I love pairing cognac with gray because it’s not as predictable. You know me, I’m always trying to pair the unexpected ha, ha! I also cuffed the jeggings to add some extra styling.
Here’s an up-close look at my jewelry. I added a little bit more color with my beaded earrings and you know how I love my necklaces by Lynne and Lucille that I find at Wit & Whimzy.
Here’s another way I styled these two finds. I switched to my Talbots boyfriend denim and tucked part of the shirt in to showcase more of the ruffle and accessorized with a different necklace.
And do you recognize these shoes from my last blog post? I love how I look barefoot. Very unique look 🙂 This time I dressed up the red top by pairing it with black dress pants and a mint colored necklace that can both be found at Talbots.
It’s Friday! And it’s freaking cold outside. I always struggle with how to dress when it’s freezing outside because I still want to be fashionable. So here are a few things I consider before braving the cold.
Location. Am I going to a friend’s house, out to dinner, a movie or out to a bar? And wherever I’m going will there be a place for me to store my coat? Take for instance this first image. Here, I’m wearing the warmest coat I own because again, today was VERY cold. I love layering because you have options for when the temperature changes. I hate when I go in and out of different room temperatures which is why layering is key.
I wore this faux leather jacket under the above winter coat so that I had another option to stay warm. For instance, when you go to a restaurant it’s still typically cold inside but who wants to eat in a bulky jacket?
Here’s the jacket styled in a different way so that I don’t have to feel completely bundled up. I would wear this specific jacket out to a bar because I can buckle it up to stay warm when heading home.
Finally, here is the bottom layer; a cowl neck sweater from a local shop called Teri Ann’s in Marietta, Ohio about a year ago. I paired it with a statement necklace. I love using neutral tones and brightening it up with a white accent. This sweater is perfect to wear anywhere when it’s under layers because it’s cozy, yet trendy.
I took a side shot of this because I love the subtle hi-low look especially with the button-fly denim. This is a nice and simple style to go with and wear just about anywhere.
Do you have a favorite sweater? And how do you stay warm in the winter while still enjoying outdoor activities?
Today is game day and me and the little are sporting our OSU gear to support the man in our life’s favorite team. It’s also a great time to sport one of my go-tofall essentials, a houndstooth wrap.
Every woman should own a wrap because they are very versatile and it’s almost like you’re carrying a blanket around with you! Who doesn’t want to be all snuggled up while looking fashionable? It’s also a very effortless look. It can turn a tee shirt and jeans into a more accessorized look.
Here’s a more elevated, fashion-forward look. This time I paired the wrap with my side-tie wildberry top and denim all from Talbots along with my velvet over-the-knee boots. On warmer fall days you could wear a cute flat or heel to give it a different look.
So, what color wrap are you going to get this fall?
Wow! Today marks the one year anniversary for me starting my fashion blog! It took a lot of dedication to continually keep up with it. It was a goal that I set for myself and I DID IT!! Man, it feels good to say that I accomplished part of my goal. Did I meet the expectations I set for myself? Not 100% but I still kept at it. Am I where I want it to be yet? Of course not, I have continual goals that I set for myself. Have I met amazing people doing what I am doing? Uhm, YES!! So many beautiful people out there that have been supporting me and cheering me on. I LITERALLY could not have done this without the support group that I have. First and foremost I need to give a shout out to my amazing husband, Marc! He sees the side of me that not everyone does when it comes to dealing with stress and the times I didn’t meet a goal or if I feel like I let someone down. He is also my personal photographer most of the time with his iPhone in hand ready to go (lol-have you seen the Instagram husbands video? Ha! I at least don’t make him do “shoe pics” together). He sacrifices a lot for me when it comes to this journey and I can NEVER thank him enough.
Then I have my friends and family that are nothing but encouraging and take the time to respond to any feedback on topics or pics for my blog. Most of the time I’m embarrassed to send them pictures of myself but I truly appreciate their feedback so I do it anyway.
Then there is this amazing group of women that have helped encourage me and spread the word about my blog in the community. I truly believe that without these group of ladies, I would not be where I am today with this blog. They have provided SO many opportunities for me and I am blessed to be a part of this lovely group; The Hot Tomatoes. And for anyone that has ever attended a fashion workshop of mine, thank you. Owner of Hot Tomato, Andi Roberts has produced some truly amazing photography for some of my work with Clutch MOV and my blog. She makes me laugh and feel so comfortable.
Speaking of Clutch MOV, I can’t thank them enough for spreading the love of Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0 throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley when it comes to my fashion articles. Liv and Nate have done some incredible photography for some of my articles as well. A huge thank you to Sarah Arnold for allowing me to be a staff writer. I’m also overly appreciative of shop owner friends, Debbie and Becky of Twisted Sisters Boutique, Teri Ann of Terri Ann’s, Laura of Wit & Whimzy, Stephanie of Peyton & Peppy Boutique, Cathy of Sabika jewelry, Mike of Mizzy’s Deals, and John Rossi Art Studio for either sending lovely texts or facebook messages during this time and/or allowing me to use some of their merchandise in my posts. As well as Meredith of MD Photography and Staci of Makeup Mommy DE for making my first blog post ever possible!
A special message to whomever is reading, thank YOU! Thank you for taking the time to like or even share my posts and to help make one of this gal’s dreams continually come true. However, my biggest thank you goes to my little girl, Harper Simone. Without her it would be hard for me to give up on what I am trying to do. What kind of example would I be sending her if I gave up on something. I want to send a special message to her and that is, if you want to do something in life just go for it and don’t give up! Never let anyone keep you from going after your dreams if it’s truly your heart’s desire. And most importantly to remember life isn’t perfect and there will always be haters out there, just don’t let them dim your light. Some people may not understand your dreams and that’s okay. Just do you!
If you haven’t noticed yet, I’ve been collaborating with Peyton & Peppy Boutique lately and I just have to say I have been really impressed with the clothing I have been sharing with you. When I dropped by to take a gander after one of their live facebook shows, I saw this jumper from across the room. This piece is part of their upcoming fall collection and I HAD to try it on.
What’s unique about this garment is that it has more of a drop waist. This is not a common fit for most jumpers so some may feel when they try it on that it’s not the correct fit on their body. But rest assured, this is the way it’s supposed to fit. I adore the wide leg on this as well; another bit of uniqueness 😉 I paired my Chinese Laundry wedges from Peyton & Peppy too but there are a variety of shoes you would pair with this. And check out the back of that jumpsuit ❤ Groowwwlll!
I also like to show pieces such as this that you might love but think you can’t wear many different ways. Here are my two pieces of advice for that:
1.) Sometimes us ladies need a really spectacular piece in our closet for a special occasion (anniversary dinner, a night out with the ladies or your birthday party)!
2.) Be brave. Step out of your comfort zone and experiment with your wardrobe. Maybe you’re uncomfortable showing a little skin. Peep the look below to show how I layered a casual white tee and wore during a day date with my husband and a backyard party at a friend’s house later that afternoon. Had I owned a pair of white converse sneakers, I would’ve paired it with this look as well. How fun and sporty! And, a VERY different look and vibe to the outfit.
I wore my my open-toed sling backs for this specific look since I was going on a date 🙂 I’m sure you’ll see this jumper again so I can show you how to wear it in the cooler months.
I hope this inspired you to dig into your closet and play with your wardrobe a little bit more. Give yourself a chance and please stop telling yourself, “I can’t pull that off!” Be confident in your clothing and you CAN pull ANYTHING off 🙂
Also, if you love my lip color in my first look you should chat with my cousin, Traci on facebook or instagram. She introduced me to lipsense and I am obsessed! This color is called Samon.
Did you enjoy this article? If so, please feel free to share on your social media so that I might be able to inspire someone else. Thanks for stopping by!
