Edgy X 2

You know I love edgier fashion. I especially love sharing how to switch up a few pieces to create a different look.

The main pieces for this look are a hand-me-down maternity lace dress with my favorite Aerosmith band tee over top of it. I also paired a few pieces of jewelry from Wit & Whimzy.

The only items I switched out were my jacket and shoes to show two different variations of this look. Here I’m wearing my knee high boots and faux leather jacket from Dad’s Primitive Workbench. This jacket is fantastic. I have quite a few different faux leather jackets but this is my new favorite because it fits like a glove and I love the zipper details.

Now for this second look I’ve switched out to my new bargain find from Talbots. Hard to believe that a coat from Talbots can be worn with an outfit such as this, huh? I adore black and ivory and this tweed fabric gives it a vintage feel. I then paired my knee high socks with my metallic booties.

I love both looks equally! The best part about both jackets is how versatile they are. You can wear party dresses with both pieces. Going to a New Year’s Eve party and want to look sassy? Toss on the faux leather jacket. Want a more sophisticated, classy look? Throw on the tweed dress coat. Never skimp on the detail of your layering pieces.

What pieces would you wear?

My favorite kind of looks are the ones that you can wear multiple ways (if you couldn’t tell already lol). Here, I’m wearing a pencil dress but layered it with a sweater and tied it on the side to cinch the waistline rather than wearing a belt.  I used my faux leather jacket to give the look a bit of an edge and my black booties.  Originally, I was going to wear black studded pumps but opted to wear my booties instead a.) because I love them and my sister got them for me as a present and b.) I wanted to show that you can wear a bootie with tights and a dress.

Now, I’ve taken off the sweater and tied it around my waist to give it a different layering look.  This dress is sleeveless so you can do the same look in the warmer months without tights and a jacket.  Then, throw on some fun heels and a lightweight cardigan around your waist for when you enter into cooler environments like restaurants. See what I did there?  Another favorite thing I do with my clothing is style things that I can wear during every season as long as I layer it purposefully.

Here’s the first look without the jacket so you can see what the layered sweater looks like.

What clothing do you have in your closet that you could wear multiple ways?  I guarantee there’s something in there. Is it a patterned skirt you always pair with the same top?  Or maybe it’s your “go-to” dress for special occasions that you need to freshen up. If you want some fashion tips on a piece, drop me a line on my contact page and I’d be glad to give you some advice 🙂

Your Faithful Dreamer,

Edgy Comfort

There’s nothing better than a comfy, yet trendy look especially right after the holidays after partaking in multiple feasts (lol)!  Here I’m showing you how to enhance a hooded sweatshirt with a few layering techniques.

I paired black tattered denim to bring an edge to this look.  Then I layered a faux leather jacket that helped add dimension and a different texture.  Mixing materials and fabric can really elevate a simple look and take it to the next level.  I added studded heels to make the look less casual but this would look awesome with Chucks or Vans too.  I would wear this out shopping, running errands or even a casual night hanging out with friends or the family.

To finish the look I added a touch of color with this lynne&lucille necklace made from a bullet my husband got me for Christmas along with this amazing Homage hoodie ❤

Apparently our little Harper is going to make an appearance on my blog moving forward.  I couldn’t resist 🙂

Now that you’ve learned how to do edgy-comfy with your style, I’d love to see what you came up with!

Your Faithful Dreamer,

Walk into the Dark

I’m so glad that faux fur vests are still on trend this season.  One reason is because it always keeps me nice and warm!  Secondly, I love the look of course.  This has some influence from my previous post, Alley Faux Leather.  I’m wearing my faux leather ponte pants with my fuschia strappy shoes again.  This time I paired it with my vest and a sheer top (another $2.00 find from Zonta’s Unique Boutique!)  I also didn’t use a lot of accessories because the accent color and vest have enough impact.

Now I realize this look is extremely daring, especially to wear in a small town but I still love it!  I don’t let the town I live in dictate what I want to wear.  If I want to wear it, I do. This is the same top I had on in the previous picture and I wore a simple black bra underneath.  Another fun look to experiment with if you’re up for the challenge 🙂

Maybe the previous image was a little too much for your taste and that’s no problem!  Just add another layer with a tank.  I used gray because it was less predictable.  I think this look inspired my little girl, Harper because she just had to pose next to me.  I think it’s safe to say this is a more dressier”mommy-friendly” look.  Harper is my world and I take her with me most of the time during my fashion escapades while her daddy takes my pictures.  They’re absolute troopers and if I didn’t have them to support me, this blog may not have existed.
