Sweater Haul-Get Ready Ladies!

I don’t know about you but I love me some cozy sweaters but sometimes people get stuck on how to wear them in a non-typical way.  For instance, for this first look I am wearing two tops from Dad’s Primitive Workbench in Marietta, Ohio.  I love this shop’s selections of sweaters because they are unique, comfortable and versatile.  This crop plaid button-down paired with my distressed sweater provides an edgy look but also  warmth because of the layers.  This crop plaid piece is so great and I can’t wait to wear it after the baby bump is gone and rock it all buttoned up.  I also love the agate necklace to add a special piece of jewelry.

D684FE91-5FB0-4069-8363-BCEEC61CB653

Here’s a side-view to show off some more of the plaid top.  I also paired it with earrings from the same place.  In fact, everything in this post that I mention is from Dad’s Primitive Workbench!  With this pose you get a nice view of Baby Sawyer too 😉

As you know I adore accessories and think they truly help complete a look.  In case you don’t notice some of the jewelry I am wearing with these looks, here’s a close-up for you.   I didn’t rock the Mama Bear earrings but couldn’t NOT feature them because I think they are so darn cute!

E4F48C62-A1C9-42B2-A99F-EC7BAE378EAB

If you’ve spoken to me this season I keep talking about how much I love the chenille fabric for sweaters because I feel like a swaddled up baby.  And then when you pair it with a blanket scarf? Psh!  Forget about it.  You’ll find me in random corners of rooms cozied up taking a nap! LOL. But in all seriousness, this look would be super cute for casual Christmas parties.

948A08D3-D06F-4950-BBB9-A8DBA604253C

This sweater is a beautiful royal purple which is a gorgeous hue but not one that I personally gravitate towards until this time around.  And are you kidding me with this beautiful orange scarf?  The mixture of textures is my favorite.

186A68E4-A63C-4CB8-9D8E-4FC6FB95ED450745B106-326B-472F-BE00-DF3C59DBFB7F

Now this next cutie is my favorite fall color and I love the fringe detail.  The neckline is perfect because it’s not quite a mock turtleneck but it wraps around your neck to provide more warmth.  I also love it paired with leopard print.

919EC229-DE1E-4211-A542-527B7E0906F5

And you know I can’t resist mixing some more patterns 🙂

226F63FA-2BDB-4FED-810C-3A8F1CF33AF5

Lastly, this green number is one of the softest fabrics yet.  I could sleep in this one quite easily too (definitely a tie between the chenille sweater and this one for softness).  You could belt this look with a braided belt if you wanted to, but I actually liked the looseness of it. The length is typically something I wouldn’t go for because of my lack of height (being only 5’3″) but I love it with my tall boots.  The print on the boots gives the eye something new to concentrate on but is still complimentary to the look.

If you don’t already know my posts for Dad’s Primitive Workbench are sponsored which means that you get a coupon code to use at the shop!!  There’s always a Buy One Get One 50% off for the boutique shop items but when you give the code: Randomosity 740 you will receive an extra 10% off on top of that!  Perfect timing for the holidays and dropping temps.

Which sweater was your favorite?

MOV Fashion Hop 2018

Journey

FBCB4FA5-F466-4207-8818-4E9BA04513C0

Last Saturday a really cool thing happened.  I hosted my first fashion event here in the Mid-Ohio Valley.  I called it MOV Fashion Hop.  The purpose of this event was to share two of my passions with the area; fashion and the options we have locally as far as shopping small businesses.  I love when I have the opportunity to promote fellow entrepreneurs.  This also gave me the chance to demonstrate any styling advice I can provide to clients for a personal wardrobing consultation such as personal shopping, curating one’s own style, coordinating clothing for group photos, or anything else along the wardrobe spectrum.

I mentioned that my passion was fashion, but it means so much more than the vain connotation that can come with it.  I love making people feel confident and that is what fashion does for me.  Many times we get in style ruts or think we can’t wear or “pull-off” certain styles because of our age or the area we live in, “we live in a small town, I would look silly wearing that HERE!”  I’ve heard it all.  I always like to refer to my next statement as “the psychology of fashion.”  We get inside our own heads and create this doubt, or lack of self-worth when we are shopping for clothing.  Just because we live in a small town doesn’t mean we have to stick to wearing a certain style of clothing and put ourselves in a made-up box.

Also, Mama Bears (yes, I’m talking to you)  you work super hard on making sure you’re taking care of your family and that is amazing and kudos to you!  But don’t forget to celebrate yourself and remember to allow yourself to feel beautiful and confident. I can speak from experience, especially with another one on the way.  I care about fashion because of the way it makes me feel.  I HATE not feeling good about myself so I take the extra time in the morning to take care of me; coordinate an outfit, do my make-up and curl or straighten my hair.  Do I wake up earlier? Yes, because it’s worth it to me.  Do I think everyone should feel this way?  No, but if you feel crappy about yourself when you look at other women, then I highly recommend taking the time but only if it’s for YOU.  If you don’t care about fashion, that’s okay but I’m assuming you at least care a little since you’re reading my blog.  I highly doubt it’s my mediocre writing skills that draws you in (LOL).

The next images that I’m sharing are from MOV Fashion Hop.  This shows you a glimpse of what I can teach you personally, amongst other things.  These are still images of videos that were taken during the event.  If you’re interested in watching you can view them here.

In each of the videos I’m teaching different ways to wear things.  In Peyton & Peppy Boutique I showed how to wear a flutter sleeve and mix different, unexpected tones to create a polished look for a day-to-night look.  When we went into Schafer Leather I went over how to wear ponchos and capes along with not being afraid to wear a hat.  I can’t get over how many people feel silly wearing a hat simply because of where we live.  Be bold and go for it! 🙂

8DE8C7F6-CFD2-4810-A2A9-C82B3253E36C

At Wit & Whimzy I taught how to accessorize and layer jewelry with neutral tones by using clothing from Sabela Chic.  Another lesson was sharing how to mix patterns in a subtle way while I was in Emleigh’s and Mama B’s.

281FE18B-71C6-492A-BC16-0E3AB6ADFC5C

While in Sugar Maple Boutique I shared my love of leopard print, my favorite neutral pattern.  I also demonstrated how to wear a different style pant along with a vest that had fun colors and how to pair it with a less obvious choice for a pant.  Next up was Teri Ann’s, a staple fashion destination here in Marietta.  I taught how to wear a printed pant and pairing the perfect top and layering piece along with not worrying about getting the perfect match of colors as long as things blend nicely.

F1DD089C-519F-428B-833E-A99687AC51AE

Lastly, we ended our tour at Dad’s Primitive Workbench which is one of my favorite places to find unexpected fashion pieces.  I taught how it’s okay to kick outdated fashion rules to the curb like “not mixing blue and black.”  It’s perfectly acceptable to do so as long as you pair the right things together.

I hope if you didn’t get a chance to attend this year’s MOV Fashion Hop that you get to next time.  I plan on doing this every fall season but people have already asked me to do it again in the springtime, so who knows?  Stay tuned and make sure and follow me on my facebook page so you can watch for other Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0 events! Also, if you’re interested in my personal wardrobe consultations, hit me up!

A Hidden Gem

Top, earrings and pants from Dad’s Primitive Workbench

Have you ever walked down Front Street in Marietta, Ohio and come across a storefront with the name, Dad’s Primitive Workbench?  I’m personally not into primitive décor so I never really paid a lot of attention to the clothing that was featured in the window.  It wasn’t until a friend of mine told me about the cute styles that were offered inside that I decided to walk in and check it out myself.

IMG_6995[1]

Bottoms and earrings from Dad’s Primitive Workbench

There are trendy pieces that are versatile especially for my growing tummy.  Most of the clothing I’ve been drawn to have a bohemian, slouchy feel which works out well for me trying to not have to purchase many maternity clothes this pregnancy. The colors are thoughtful and the assortment flows nicely.  Not only is the clothing bright and cheerful but so is Charlie, the owner of this hidden gem.

IMG_6993[1]

Top and earrings from Dad’s Primitive Workbench

IMG_6994[1]IMG_6992[1]

Charlie also seems to really pick up on people’s styles too.  When I walk in the store he knows exactly what I am going to be drawn to and let me tell you something, not many people have that ability because I am pretty unpredictable with some of the things I like sometimes.

IMG_6867[1]

There are a few things that you should know about this special shop, and that is that Charlie always offers buy one get one half off on his clothing and he offers style boxes that he sends out once a month to customers that are interested.  It’s called the, DPW Style Box for $49.95/ month and you get 4 curated pieces inside. Another fun fact is that he offers plus-size styles.

IMG_6813

Did I mention he offers cute accessories like these?  Yea, he does!  I hope you learned something new about a local business and will check out the fashions Dad’s Primitive Workbench has to offer.  And make sure and tell Charlie I said hello or go like and follow his social media pages;

Let’s Chat About that Hat

fashion

08AE25DD-1D45-486A-B0E6-F5323E588F2B

I’ve been obsessed with finding a cute spring/summer hat. However, anytime I purchase one I end up not wearing it very often because the fit isn’t quite right. I’m determined to find the right hat and experiment with a variety of shapes and sizes until I find what I’m looking for.

When I’m in a hurry and don’t want to grab some things from a big store, I’ll stop in a place like Dollar General so I can run in and out. Well, I happened to notice a sale section that had the above hat on the rack. I’ve been wanting a sun hat but knew I wouldn’t wear it often because I don’t spend an extended amount of time in the direct sunlight. So here I am faced with the perfect scenario for a hat trial and for only $3.00! Nothing to lose there.

I got home and decided to put a few looks together to share how you can easily style a sun hat.

0138F617-A49F-49B6-A9EA-661F1D16A0A9

Perfect little white dress from Emleigh and Mama B’s with a little dash of color to add some interest.

C2ED869B-F15C-408F-BF1E-D3557F5022B6

A chambray dress from TJ Maxx with my black booties and white denim jacket to tie in the black and white from the hat.

221B6288-7063-41EF-83A9-B246F6EC3F3B

A silk neck scarf from Talbots and a faux leather pencil skirt to add some more texture and the studded shoes to produce an edgier look.

CC292BE9-2313-453E-8A21-C1C8628AF23B

Lastly, for my denim wearing gals, my denim with the bows from Talbots and a black and white striped top paired with a turquoise statement necklace.

So there you have it! 4 easy looks with the same sun hat. What accessory are you on the hunt for this season? You never know when you might find the perfect practice accessory 😁.

Professional Wear: How Do You Make It Your Own?

fashion

DF6B874F-0BA8-489E-85ED-A5F1F1EE6F16

Today I had the honor of presenting to a classroom of Marietta College students on what is appropriate to wear during an interview.  It inspired me to write about this topic for a few reasons:

1. Show an appropriate interview look.

2. Demonstrate how to transform your interview look into your own style for a later purpose.

The first image shows an appropriate outfit for an interview. Many people think you have to wear a matching suit but that’s not necessarily the case. I kept my accessories minimal and the colors more toned down. I love this Chanel-inspired tweed jacket from Talbots, but this is not my typical style. So I put together a look that is more me so that I have multi-use.

AFF20C64-94B0-4B4C-97F8-703274AE3A14

I love this jumpsuit I acquired last summer from Peyton & Peppy. I love the mix of something classic with something edgy. I also included a warm tone with my shoe to add some interest.

B9C7EAA6-B507-4399-96F1-ACC3109E257E

And you know how I can never get enough of Lynne and Lucille jewelry. These earrings are made of hair-on-hide and I found them at Wit & Whimzy. I love the texture it adds to the tweed jacket without competing with it.

A79B4975-BF05-41CE-AAE3-8BB5FE947839Lastly, in honor of speaking at Marietta College, I used one of their tee shirts to show a semi-professional way to show team spirit. You can tie something professional with an item that’s more casual.

If you have any questions about what to wear on interviews or how to make business wear more your style, please feel free to hit me up!

Can You Believe It? Me Neither

Journey

Wow!  Today marks the one year anniversary for me starting my fashion blog!  It took a lot of dedication to continually keep up with it.  It was a goal that I set for myself and I DID IT!!  Man, it feels good to say that I accomplished part of my goal.  Did I meet the expectations I set for myself?  Not 100% but I still kept at it.  Am I where I want it to be yet?  Of course not, I have continual goals that I set for myself.  Have I met amazing people doing what I am doing?  Uhm, YES!!  So many beautiful people out there that have been supporting me and cheering me on. I LITERALLY could not have done this without the support group that I have.  First and foremost I need to give a shout out to my amazing husband, Marc!  He sees the side of me that not everyone does when it comes to dealing with stress and the times I didn’t meet a goal or if I feel like I let someone down.  He is also my personal photographer most of the time with his iPhone in hand ready to go (lol-have you seen the Instagram husbands video? Ha! I at least don’t make him do “shoe pics” together).  He sacrifices a lot for me when it comes to this journey and I can NEVER thank him enough.

Then I have my friends and family that are nothing but encouraging and take the time to respond to any feedback on topics or pics for my blog.  Most of the time I’m embarrassed to send them pictures of myself but I truly appreciate their feedback so I do it anyway.

Then there is this amazing group of women that have helped encourage me and spread the word about my blog in the community.  I truly believe that without these group of ladies, I would not be where I am today with this blog.  They have provided SO many opportunities for me and I am blessed to be a part of this lovely group; The Hot Tomatoes.  And for anyone that has ever attended a fashion workshop of mine, thank you. Owner of Hot Tomato, Andi Roberts has produced some truly amazing photography for some of my work with Clutch MOV and my blog.  She makes me laugh and feel so comfortable.

Speaking of Clutch MOV, I can’t thank them enough for spreading the love of Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0 throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley when it comes to my fashion articles.  Liv and Nate have done some incredible photography for some of my articles as well.  A huge thank you to Sarah Arnold for allowing me to be a staff writer.  I’m also overly appreciative of shop owner friends, Debbie and Becky of Twisted Sisters Boutique, Teri Ann of Terri Ann’s, Laura of Wit & Whimzy, Stephanie of Peyton & Peppy Boutique, Cathy of Sabika jewelry, Mike of Mizzy’s Deals, and John Rossi Art Studio for either sending lovely texts or facebook messages during this time and/or allowing me to use some of their merchandise in my posts. As well as Meredith of  MD Photography  and Staci of Makeup Mommy DE for making my first blog post ever possible!

A special message to whomever is reading, thank YOU!  Thank you for taking the time to like or even share my posts and to help make one of this gal’s dreams continually come true.  However, my biggest thank you goes to my little girl, Harper Simone.  Without her it would be hard for me to give up on what I am trying to do. What kind of example would I be sending her if I gave up on something.  I want to send a special message to her and that is, if you want to do something in life just go for it and don’t give up!  Never let anyone keep you from going after your dreams if it’s truly your heart’s desire.  And most importantly to remember life isn’t perfect and there will always be haters out there, just don’t let them dim your light.  Some people may not understand your dreams and that’s okay.  Just do you!

Courtney

Iconic Fashion:|| Insider Info

IMG_3490

If you haven’t heard of the Sparkly Ladies Night party that takes place in Marietta, Ohio the first Saturday of every December,  I’m about to share some exciting information.  You’ve heard that expression, “all dressed up and no place to go” right?  Well, here’s a fantastic opportunity to not only get all glammed up, but also enjoy an awesome night out with the ladies!  I’ve teamed up with Andi Roberts of Hot Tomato Pin-up Academy to supply a hint with this year’s theme.  Last year we took you back to the prohibition days where the dames kicked back in a smokey speakeasy.

So what’s this year’s theme you ask?  Here’s a hint from yours truly. Check out the black and white photo above.  Where do you think you would find me?

Fashion is my expertise and if I had it my way we’d be heading to The Big Apple to shop for an iconic wrap-dress by the one and only Diane von Furstenberg (just like the one I found here in the Hot Tomato wardrobe).   Did you know she invented this design?   The frock is flattering, versatile, and easy to wear, pack, and style. All I can say is that I would wear something like this to Sparkly Ladies Night for this year’s theme and add some much needed bling! Just like runway fashion, don’t be afraid to go over the top because it’d welcome at this place during it’s time.

So where would you find me?  Send your guess to the following email:

If you guess correctly, you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a set of tickets.  Good luck to all of you and hope to see you there!

Key Statement Pieces

IMG_1531

When it comes to creating a stylish look, one must realize the most important component in doing so is through the finishing touches. This is my favorite part of fashion; accessorizing! Yes, I love mixing and matching clothing to create other looks but one of the easiest ways to transform a look is how you accessorize it. Take for instance this look. I went with a wider leg white pant from Talbots, a wide-armed black sleeveless top layered with a stripe tank to give a surprising peek-a-boo detail and my black loafers. I wanted to dress up this simple look to show how a casual look can look oh so chic when you step outside the box with your jewelry.

I teamed up with the lovely, Cathy Richardson of Sabika jewelry to demonstrate different ways to accessorize. I absolutely adored all of these beautiful jewels and how versatile they are. The images above show different layering techniques that I enjoyed pairing together. The far left picture shows an elaborate mixture and you’ll see I remove a layer in each image to show how many different looks you can create with statement pieces. That’s what’s so amazing about this jewelry collection, you can be your own designer or stylist when it comes to how you want to pair the pieces together.

Sabika is new to the Mid-Ohio Valley and is handmade, exclusively designed jewelry, limited edition crafted from Swarovski crystals made by women in their homes. Visit here to find out more about the history of Sabika and more about Cathy.

When I was searching through the Sabika collection and what I wanted to pair with this dress, I was immediately drawn to this layered piece. The amber colored crystal, along with the perfectly coordinated colors and multi-layered style was stunning paired with this rich colored maxi dress. I have worn this dress to weddings as well as casually.  This specific look would be quite adorable for the upcoming fall season with a leather jacket to edge it up even more! <3. The tones are absolutely breathtaking.

Here’s a few up-close shots of some of my other favorite pieces. There’s truly something for everyone with the Sabika jewelry line. A big thank you to Cathy for letting me showcase her beautiful jewels! If you’re interested in seeing more make sure and contact Cathy Richardson at: CathyRichardsonSabika@gmail.com or find her on Facebook.

I think my daughter, Harper approves. She’s making a comeback in my fashion shoots. Which layering piece was your favorite?

If you haven’t noticed yet, I’ve been collaborating with Peyton & Peppy Boutique lately and I just have to say I have been really impressed with the clothing I have been sharing with you.  When I dropped by to take a gander after one of their live facebook shows, I saw this jumper from across the room. This piece is part of their upcoming fall collection and I HAD to try it on.

FullSizeRender_2

What’s unique about this garment is that it has more of a drop waist. This is not a common fit for most jumpers so some may feel when they try it on that it’s not the correct fit on their body.  But rest assured, this is the way it’s supposed to fit.  I adore the wide leg on this as well; another bit of uniqueness 😉  I paired my Chinese Laundry wedges from Peyton & Peppy too but there are a variety of shoes you would pair with this.  And check out the back of that jumpsuit ❤ Groowwwlll!

I also like to show pieces such as this that you might love but think you can’t wear many different ways.  Here are my two pieces of advice for that:

1.) Sometimes us ladies need a really spectacular piece in our closet for a special occasion (anniversary dinner, a night out with the ladies or your birthday party)!

2.) Be brave.  Step out of your comfort zone and experiment with your wardrobe.  Maybe you’re uncomfortable showing a little skin.  Peep the look below to show how I layered a casual white tee and wore during a day date with my husband and a backyard party at a friend’s house later that afternoon.  Had I owned a pair of white converse sneakers, I would’ve paired it with this look as well.  How fun and sporty!  And, a VERY different look and vibe to the outfit.

I wore my my open-toed sling backs for this specific look since I was going on a date 🙂  I’m sure you’ll see this jumper again so I can show you how to wear it in the cooler months.

FullSizeRender

I hope this inspired you to dig into your closet and play with your wardrobe a little bit more.  Give yourself a chance and please stop telling yourself, “I can’t pull that off!”  Be confident in your clothing and you CAN pull ANYTHING off 🙂

Also, if you love my lip color in my first look you should chat with my cousin, Traci on facebook or instagram.  She introduced me to lipsense and I am obsessed!  This color is called Samon.

Did you enjoy this article?  If so, please feel free to share on your social media so that I might be able to inspire someone else.  Thanks for stopping by!

Pin-Stripes? Don’t Mind If I Do!

fashion

AMR_5876_clu

When I think of springtime the fashion color palette in my mind always floats towards pastels.  Now, with my fair-skin and blonde hair, I tend to get a little squeamish because I can easily look washed-out in a lot of pastels.  BUT, with that being said I am not afraid to push myself to make it work for me.  You can do so by adding brighter accessories.

I recently did an article for Clutch MOV on the collaboration of modern and vintage styles.  I loved this article because it really married the two styles together and made vintage relevant with modern fashion.  The dress you see in this post was featured in this article and I must say, I AM IN LOVE!  The light fabric and off-the-shoulder look made it so easy to wear this dress and so comfortable.

AMR_5879_clu

I loved pairing a bold red shoe with the dress; nothing wrong with going a little patriotic now and again 😉  I also like to mix and match my accessories.  I loved utilizing a cognac colored handbag.  This neutral color honestly works so well with ANY and EVERY color!  I love it with black, yellow, red, brown, green, etc.  I haven’t seen it with a color that I don’t like.

When it came to accessorizing this dress, I kept it simple.  I selected a bold shoe which was enough of a statement for me when it came to introducing a color.  How cute are those tassels?!

These pieces are found locally at some of my dearest friends’s shop, Twisted Sisters Boutique in downtown Marietta, Ohio. If you are located in the Mid-Ohio Valley make sure and stop by and say, “GIVE ME THESE PIECES” lol!
