During the winter months it’s easy to get stuck wearing muted or neutral colors. This month’s partnering with Dad’s Primitive Workbench (DPW) is all about showing ways to bring color into your life during this season.
This first look is a flounce-sleeve dress that will look gorgeous in the springtime too. For now I layered underneath with a fitted black turtleneck. I wanted to jazz it up some more with black knee highs to tie in the two dark colors and then a printed snakeskin bootie to coordinate with the necklace (necklace, shoes, socks, and turtleneck not found in store).
I used a thin scarf (not in the store) as a belt to help cinch in the dress. I decided to add black in this look because being fair-skinned the blush color easily washes me out. When I add black it helps the color stand out more.
This sweater is just delightful! I love that it’s like a bright navy. I paired it with my black denim and burgundy rain booties. I liked the idea of incorporating two primary-type colors together.
DPW had my favorite print in earring form so I paired them with my coordinating belt. I wear this belt a lot in my posts to show how easy it is to wear the print with so many different things. These earrings were perfect because they were so lightweight but added so much value to the outfit.
This army green jumper is to die for. It feels like suede and adds a lush texture to any look. I continued to pair it with my black turtleneck to show an easy way to showcase this special piece. I continued to wear it with the snakeskin booties to add more interest to the look.
I loved adding this multi-colored striped button-down with this jumper. It really brightens it up and creates a fun, cheerful look!
You could also tie the shirt in a knot if you wanted to create a different vibe.
These faux leather earrings were the perfect pairing to bring in more variety (necklace not in DPW).
Another way you could incorporate two colors and style two pieces differently is by layering with the bright navy sweater from earlier. These two cool colors are an unexpected pair and I love them together.
I simply tucked the bottom of the sweater through the top of the neckline and pulled it through (just like when I was a kid playing with my clothing in new ways to look like I had on a bra. 😆 I had quite the imagination).
I felt the ivory earring was just the right touch to complete the look without taking away from the colors.
Are you not a Marietta, Ohio local shopper? That’s okay! DPW now offers their product online now🙌🏻 Don’t forget you can use shopping code: RANDOMOSITY740 for 10% off on top of the boutique promo buy one get one 1/2 off in stores.
Now quick! Go add some color into your life during these gloomy months.
Your Faithful Dreamer,
Greetings and happy holidays from me to you! With this time of year some of you may have multiple occasions to get all dolled-up. When I think of holiday attire, I instinctually am drawn to sequins. The problem with sequins is that not everyone feels comfortable when it comes to accessorizing with something that is already eye-catching. So here are just a few ways to style one of my sequin dresses.
This first look I paired with my patch faux-fur jacket to add some warm tones to the look. Many of you may think to just wear black with red , which I love but I really adore adding warmth to looks. I also brought the warm tones down to my shoes in order to disperse the tones evenly.
The next few looks will now be tied in with black textures. Here, I am wearing my black faux-fur vest and then my black booties. I love the drama black brings to this look and how cozy it feels when wearing it. This is a good accessory to keep you warm especially with a one-sleeved dress like this.
Now, if you’ve been following my blog for a while you know I can never resist pairing a faux-leather jacket with just about ANYTHING. I also love hats and pairing the two looks together to create a fun look.
Not a hat person? That’s okay because this look still remains fashionable without a hat.
I have the privilege of knowing some really talented make-up artists because of my friends at the Hot Tomato Studio. For this post I partnered with Abigail Gedon of PWDR Beaute who is a fellow Hot Tomato gal herself. She and I went over what type of look we felt was appropriate and slightly different than what I usually do. I let her take the reigns on this since she’s the expert. My typical look is a cat-eye with a red lip so she switched up a few things to make it a little different yet staying true to myself. I loved the outcome and found it to be perfect for a fancy shmancy party. A little glitter never hurt anyone 😉 Make sure and check out her page on instagram and facebook @PWDRBeaute if you’re looking for a make-up artist.
A huge thank you to Abigail Gedon for utilizing her make-up craft and also The Betsy Mills Club for allowing me to use their beautiful, historic parlor for this shoot.
Your Faithful Dreamer,
Last week I shared some bargain finds. I promised I’d share two more fun pieces during my shopping trip. So here you go! For this look I found a red ruffle top at TJ Maxx for $6.00 and these mules for $6.00 at Gabriel Brothers. I’ve receive the most compliments on these shoes when I wear them and they can be worn with so much! The first image I layered with a denim jacket and a pair of gray jeggings from Talbots (my absolute favorite fit of denim).
This top can also be worn simply by taking the denim jacket away. I love pairing cognac with gray because it’s not as predictable. You know me, I’m always trying to pair the unexpected ha, ha! I also cuffed the jeggings to add some extra styling.
Here’s an up-close look at my jewelry. I added a little bit more color with my beaded earrings and you know how I love my necklaces by Lynne and Lucille that I find at Wit & Whimzy.
Here’s another way I styled these two finds. I switched to my Talbots boyfriend denim and tucked part of the shirt in to showcase more of the ruffle and accessorized with a different necklace.
And do you recognize these shoes from my last blog post? I love how I look barefoot. Very unique look 🙂 This time I dressed up the red top by pairing it with black dress pants and a mint colored necklace that can both be found at Talbots.
So which style do you like best?
