A Hidden Gem

Top, earrings and pants from Dad’s Primitive Workbench

Have you ever walked down Front Street in Marietta, Ohio and come across a storefront with the name, Dad’s Primitive Workbench?  I’m personally not into primitive décor so I never really paid a lot of attention to the clothing that was featured in the window.  It wasn’t until a friend of mine told me about the cute styles that were offered inside that I decided to walk in and check it out myself.

There are trendy pieces that are versatile especially for my growing tummy.  Most of the clothing I’ve been drawn to have a bohemian, slouchy feel which works out well for me trying to not have to purchase many maternity clothes this pregnancy. The colors are thoughtful and the assortment flows nicely.  Not only is the clothing bright and cheerful but so is Charlie, the owner of this hidden gem.

Charlie also seems to really pick up on people’s styles too.  When I walk in the store he knows exactly what I am going to be drawn to and let me tell you something, not many people have that ability because I am pretty unpredictable with some of the things I like sometimes.

There are a few things that you should know about this special shop, and that is that Charlie always offers buy one get one half off on his clothing and he offers style boxes that he sends out once a month to customers that are interested.  It’s called the, DPW Style Box for $49.95/ month and you get 4 curated pieces inside. Another fun fact is that he offers plus-size styles.

Did I mention he offers cute accessories like these?  Yea, he does!  I hope you learned something new about a local business and will check out the fashions Dad’s Primitive Workbench has to offer.  And make sure and tell Charlie I said hello or go like and follow his social media pages;

Classic vs. Trendy

fashion

IMG_9876

Recently, I’ve taken a new job where I need to create a more classic look than I typically vere towards.  Now, I love and appreciate all styles but I tend to be drawn to more edgy looks. With this new job I am shopping more purposeful. I need more versatile looks that will be appropriate for work while sticking to my true style. This first image shows how I am wearing a pant from Talbots called the Chatham pant. I adore the color red and loved that they were also on clearance! Win, win. I also LOVE this handbag that my mother bought me while I was visiting her in Florida a few years back ❤

Can we talk about the amazing herringbone detail on this blazer?! I knew I had to have it! It’s also from Talbots and perfect for the summertime because of the 3/4 length sleeve (found in stores). I also love the button detail. I paired it with an existing striped tank I had in my closet because I wanted to show how you can mix texture with a print.

Like I mentioned above I am always drawn to a more edgy look and even though I am in my thirties I’m not afraid to wear a graphic tank to celebrate being “female” (bodysuit is from Charlotte Russe). I never take myself too seriously when it comes to sticking to fashion labels of what is “age-appropriate.” I say if you like it, then wear it (within reason of course; for instance you probably won’t see me in a crop top at age fifty or above). I wore my glasses because I felt it was fitting for the look I was going for.

Now, this last image I threw on my printed blazer because I adore the print and I like the look that it brings to this outfit.

I hope this post helped show how you can create two total different styles with just one vibrant colored pant!

Ran.dom.o.si.ty 7.4.0’s Business Casual

fashion

When someone says to dress business casual it can have a few different interpretations. I am going to share my version of business casual and how I like to portray it for work.  Here, I have paired a sleeveless leopard print top with a zipper detail.  I paired it with a nice tailored white blazer (a staple every woman should have in their closet) and then a medium wash denim pant.

I always like to pair things a little more different than my first instinct.  Typically, I would wear a dark denim wash pant for business casual because it gives it a dressier feel, but I thought I would try this medium wash to show that it can be done too.  I also try to make outfits versatile, meaning that I can take my white blazer off and be ready for a night out with friends too.

Now, I LOVE these cobalt blue wedges and adore how the brown fringe stands out alongside them.  The fringe brings great texture to the look and again, is unexpected with a look like this.  Usually I would wear the fringe bag with more of a bohemian look such as a maxi dress or flowy top which is very predictable.  But I wanted to show that you can get more wear out of pieces like this.  Plus, it was a birthday present from one of my dearest friends, Maggie and I like to wear it as much as I can.

What questions do you have about business casual?  Or maybe you want to share your interpretation.  I’d love to hear from you 🙂
